Welcome to the Norwood Piano Studio website!


Coronavirus update:  In-person lessons offered at the discretion of the teacher; properly worn masks and hand sanitizing on entering and exiting the studio are required.  Virtual lessons are also offered.
Margaret Louise Norwood is an independent piano teacher in Charlotte, NC.

The Norwood Piano Studio offers year-round private piano lessons and music theory instruction in Charlotte, NC, as well as summer theory/music history/composition sessions for students of all ages. The studio features three grand pianos, seating for small audiences and a waiting area for parents. A grand piano action model, a midi keyboard and a computer with music theory and notation software round out the studio.

Mission Statement
It is my sincere desire that my teaching, student dedication and parental support will form an effective team to make piano lessons a positive, challenging and rewarding experience.

Piano lessons are an investment in more than simply learning to play the instrument. Other benefits of piano instruction are important life skills such as focus, self-discipline, confidence, poise, commitment, learning to complete a task, coordination, listening skills, using the whole brain, abstract reasoning skills and problem solving.

Development of piano skills will enhance the student's aesthetic values and perceptions and will provide a basis for lifelong musical enjoyment.

Norwood Piano Studio is conveniently located in southeast Charlotte, NC (28211) in the Cotswold/Randolph/Sardis area.
 
Did You Know?
High school music students score higher on SATs in both verbal and math than their peers.  In 2001, SAT takers with coursework/experience in music performance scored 57 points higher on the verbal portion of the test and 41 points higher on the math portion than students with no coursework/experience in the arts.

Piano study can be an integral part of any child's well-rounded education.  Research suggests that the study of piano provides great benefits for the developing cognitive skills of young school age children. Additionally, the study of a musical instrument can give a child a sense of achievement leading to enhanced self-esteem.
